Conducting Research with Professor Song from SNU
One of the most meaningful experiences I have had over the past few weeks was getting the opportunity to conduct research with Professor Jaeyong Song from Seoul National University. I was asked to help with a research project focused on “How AI is Transforming Industries: South Korea’s Strategies and Corporate Practices.” What began as simple excitement over a familiar interest quickly evolved. The deeper my research went, the more I saw the true weight and complexity of how AI is reshaping the business world.
My main responsibility was to collect and organize background research for Professor Song’s report. Specifically, I researched South Korea’s national AI strategy and industrial policies, as well as how AI is being implemented across different industries. I looked into different Korean companies and cases to identify examples of how AI was being integrated into real business strategies, and I also researched the challenges companies face during AI transformation, including issues surrounding data, talent, organizational processes, and ethics.
To conduct this meaningful research, I met with Professor Song over Zoom to discuss the research for his paper. Furthermore, I used a variety of sources and research tools, including Google Gemini Deep Research, ChatGPT, Claude, Google, and Naver, while fact-checking and cross-referencing my sources.
I am incredibly grateful to Professor Song for allowing me to contribute to this project. Working on research connected to South Korea’s rapidly developing AI industry allowed me to explore a topic I genuinely care about while giving me a taste of what university-level research is like. More than anything, this experience reinforced my interest in the intersection of global business, technology, and international industries, and made me even more excited to explore this field in the future.
