Chuseok in HONG KONG!
Last week, I traveled to Hong Kong from September 24th to 28th to spend Chuseok with my family. As a quarter Hong Konger, it felt especially meaningful to visit for the first time and reconnect with a part of my roots I had only ever heard about.
One of my favorite moments was hiking up Victoria Peak. Standing above the city, taking in the view and the fresh air, I felt a rush of pride and peace at the same time – the kind you only get when you've earned the view. I also stayed at the Mira Hotel, where (fun fact) my grandpa had his very first job as a front desk manager many, many years ago! Walking through the same lobby he once worked in was a great reminder of how far he's come, from starting at that front desk to building the life and family I'm lucky to be part of. Other highlights from the trip include afternoon tea at The Peninsula, exploring Causeway Bay, and eating so much good Chinese food (especially the dumplings).
Overall, I feel like I’ve left the country with a deeper appreciation for where my family comes from, and I can't wait to go back.
