This week, I had the privilege of tutoring Ann, a girl from Russia who is interested in improving her Korean language skills in order to pursue her education (and hopefully attend university in South Korea). We had a 40-minute session where we started off with basic conversations, and the experience was amazing!

Working with someone so passionate about learning another language and immersing herself in a different culture reminded me of how language can connect people from completely different backgrounds. It was really interesting learning about her lifestyle and interests through our short conversation, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there is much more in common between us than I had initially thought.

Overall, this opportunity was incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that I was able to help someone grow more confident in a language they care deeply about. Even though the session was only 40 minutes long, I still learned a lot from our conversation, and I’m excited for our next lesson next week.
